Great Zimbabwe

Great Zimbabwe is located near Mazvingo, Zimbabwe. It was the inspiration for Rider Haggart's novel King Solomon's Mines. (The best movie adaptation was filmed in East Africa in the late 1950's. A silly version was filmed in Zimbabwe in the 1980's. A movie loosely based on the novel has been shown on the Hallmark Channel.) The most famous aspects of the ancient city are the "Acropolis" and the "Valley Complex."
