Sensationalism and Humanitarian Aid
Ester Garvi, formerly blogging as Ishtar News, has a very informative report on famine and aid for Africa. She has a link to an excellent article, When Endemic Malnutrition is Labeled as Famine, at the site of the Eden Foundation, for which she works in Niger. I highly recommend reading this article. Ishtar News has very informative posts about life in Niger.

Chevrolet? No Way!
When I was young, my parents had a Chevrolet Impala. Only when I got to Africa did I discover that the real impala (swala pala) was not a car.

One of the most graceful of the gazelles, the impala loves to browse and can "leap tall buildings in a single bound" like Superman. Almost. This young buck was eating breakfast in Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe when I captured his image.
